Prepping for Winter...

I'm so sorry I've been posting a bit less frequently, things have been busy here!  By the way, I have a Facebook page now (I never had one, even personally!) and a Twitter account:)  I'm getting with it - finally!

Winter is fast approaching and normally around this time I start prepping my winter wardrobe.  I mainly rely on the standbys from last year's closet but you have to breathe a little new life into your clothing with each new season...

First off, I always try to utilize as much of my summer wardrobe as possible, like sundresses with jackets, boots and blazers.

The biggest thing is to have a bunch of cozy sweaters. These are from Zara (so happy they finally have an online store!) and Mango, respectively.

For work, straight cut dresses in black and bright colors look great with tights and coats...

I could live in cream colored tunics and sweater dresses (they're so fun to layer!)

Love these metallic pants from Zara and Mango, also respectively.

Black leather is pretty much a winter necessity, in jackets and pants

I usually live in leggings in cold temps; I like these (p)leather(ette) ones from South Moon Under, the skirt is great too:

Some fun new styles I may incorporate this winter, Polka dot trousers and bright pink leggings

Brown ankle boots are a great staple; I tend to like the more substantial ones, like these:

The first is DV by Dolce Vita and the second pair are Nine West

For black booties and boots, I look for great shape and the right height & price.  I love 6pm for shoes!

Some great steals are these Charles David booties for $103 and Steven's tall boots for $88

For a super splurge I love these Pucci boots!

As an aside, Emilio Pucci is one of my all time favorite designer brands.  My Pucci multi-strap sandals were my favorite things to wear this summer:

Zoe Saldana is wearing the higher version here, if I could've found them I would have probably bought them...

Another Pucci splurge would be these adorable leopard booties:

For bags, I like larger leather options.  Urban Outfitters is great for good quality and reasonably priced bags.

These Kimchi Blue bags are just $69 and $59

I also love their little clutches:

Only $39 to get a look similar to The Row's bags which sell for upwards of 5 grand.

As far as hair and beauty goes... I have been using these Loreal Professional products and they are doing great things for my hair! I love the Expert Serie Absolute Repair Masque and shampoo  and will continue to use them throughout winter this year to keep my hair from getting dry.  I'll continue wearing my summer bronzer over my usual daily moisturizer and also a layer of tinted moisturizer for a bit more glow.  I'll wear foundation more often in winter; when I do it's MAC Studio Tech with Mineralize Skinfinish on top.  I hate to endorse expensive brushes but MAC's Small Duo brush is a must for applying the foundation.  And I always set my foundation with Fix+.

I was at an event the other night wearing my favorite (and millions of others' favorite) red lipstick and I received multiple inquiries as to what it was.  I will be wearing this a lot this winter to perk up my cold face.  It's the most versatile and prettiest red lip I have found!  You've probably heard it said before... MAC's Ruby Woo lipstick paired with MAC's Redd lip pencil.  I'm sure you've seen this color before, It looks great on everyone.

The fall & winter nail colors I like are from American Apparel, they're awesome!  Probably the exciting part about winter for me, besides the chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa, is getting to wear my favorite perfume which is way too heavy for summer, Tom Ford Black Orchid.  I tend to like deep, rich, strong scents - more masculine than feminine.  I don't know why but sweet and flowery scents make me a bit dizzy and a little queasy.  Much to Brad's chagrin, I prefer patchouli:)

I feel like I have a ton more I want to share with you!  I suppose that is enough for the day but there will be more, I assure you:)  Have a great day!
