Here is my favorite quote from this blog post – that the essential ingredients to baking (and I’d say ANY ENDEAVOR) are wanting to and trying to. I think I’ll write that on a post-it and put it near my mirror today so that I remember that just wanting to accomplish something is half the battle, and that Trying To is the second half of any attempt (whether it ends up successful or not isn’t the point. . .). Thanks for inspiring me today!

Haha! Thanks girl, it wasn’t easy! I literally had to stop and take breaks throughout, it was a workout! Icing is definitely my favorite part of any cake or cupcake or donut or anything frosted;)

Wait…so you whipped that by hand? You did a pretty freaking good job! girl, i would have given up, but I love making icing. i think the best icing i made was when I burned some red velvet cupcakes and my friend still wanted them but the icing was so good, she called me and said, girl the cake was dry but i literally licked the icing off of every cupcake. I think you did a great job, and once you get the hang of is, it’s not hard at all.

Well said! I think it’s so good to do anything in life that you’re a little afraid of. I was terrified of pie crust because my mom, who is an excellent cook, always bemoaned how difficult they were. When I finally tried it for myself, I found that 1)they are not that difficult and 2) I LOVE HOMEMADE PIE. Have fun with that new baking frontier!

Before you make a pie I suggest you watch the movie The Waitress. I never liked pie until I watched this movie. I had to go try one and make my own. My favorite pie place is Dangerously Delicious Pies. They are the best, really. The Baltimore Bomb is my favorite. I make chocolate chess pies with my own flair at times. Happy Baking.
