… you just need to spend some time in prayer.

Life lately has been amazing. Amazingly hard at times and exhausting at others, but mostly just amazing. A couple of months ago a wonderful website, What to Expect When Expecting (a site I referenced many times throughout my pregnancy) asked me to write a guest post and I was thrilled. I had no idea what I would write about at the time. After having Amara though, I knew that my post would be about her birth, all the planning I had done and the unexpected complications that arose. The post can be found here.
I’m loving being a Mommy to this happy little girl, she is the sweetest thing. I want to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all the Mommies out there. It’s fun that I get to be a part of this day now. Happy Mom’s Day Mom, I love you.
Since I’ve had the blog, I have posted one of my sister Asti’s poems each year on her birthday. Today she would have tuned 30 years old. She left us too young, she was only 19. Asti, I love you and I miss you so much. Happy Birthday.

Today I will make myself
better than yesterday.
I will forget the past and
Continue to press toward the goal.
This game is my game.
I will exceed at being the best on the field.
Today we win.
My stick stops every ball,
My legs don’t stop running.
Today I will make myself better than yesterday.

Hello Amara Dielle Baker, welcome to this big beautiful world.
Daddy and I are completely in love with you.
My awesome, sweet, super helpful sister in law flew in to help when Amara was born. She also happens to be a fantastic photographer so we have some great photos of our happy little baby.
Amara is actually 2 weeks old today. She was born on April 15th. We spent 8 of the first 12 days of her life in the hospital. She is perfectly healthy and wonderful but Mommy had some complications. I am doing much better now, grateful to be home. Our little girl is more perfect than I thought possible, she is our angel. She actually saved her Mommy’s life, remind me to tell you that story…

Bring umbrellas, pretty blossoms, and maybe some extra lingering in bed… I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. As for me, I will be resting and preparing heart and mind for baby to come. Our official due date is Sunday but right now only God knows when her birthday is. I made these delicious brownies last Saturday and have been eating them out of the freezer all week… I highly recommend if you find yourself indoors this weekend with a chocolate craving.
xoxo!
